Strategic Alliance with NYC CNC!

Tuesday, April 26th, 2016

We’ve been so busy here at Beatty Robotics that we decided to reach out to our friend John Saunders of “NYC CNC” YouTube fame. We are pleased to announce that we’ve formed a strategic alliance with John and his team at Saunders Machine Works. John’s shop is a self-taught startup like ours, he uses a Tormach 1100 CNC machine like ours, and he’s experienced in the same CAD/CAM software we use. We’ve been watching each others videos and websites for years. So it makes for a perfect fit.  We will still be machining many of our robot parts, but John will be augmenting our capabilities when we get overloaded. One of the great benefits will be that John will be providing high-quality videos of some of the work he does for us, whereas we are often so busy we barely have time to post a photo. Here are two excellent videos showing the machining of the wheels for the Lunar Rover. In this case, we designed the wheels, ran some prototype / testing runs on our Tormach here, and then handed off the final production run to John. If you don’t already subscribe to John’s YouTube channel, you should. It’s totally awesome.

Really Cool! Excellent machining methods and results. The camera shots and informative narrative from a machinist who knows what theyre doing produced several “Ah Ha” moments for a do-it-yourself-er like me. Cant wait to see the finished 6 wheel rocker-bogie chassis.
